International Projects

We are presently supporting the following projects in developing countries.

Bangladesh:

2017: Chemotherapy support at CEITC (see below)

2019: Pre-school children’s eye screening project supported by Rotary International and various Rotary Club in District 1870.

2016: Retinoblastoma clinic at Tilganga Hospital in Kathmandu (see below)

Since 2020: Preverbal children’s eye screening in Province 1 in cooperation Global Eye Center (Dr Ben Limbu) and Rotary Club Itahari, supported by Rotary International and various Rotary Club in District 1870.

 

Children’s Eye Screening succesfully implemented with Nepali vaccination workers in March 2022:

During vaccination the children undergo a few simple tests performed by the vaccination workers.

The vaccination workers have previously been trained for these tests.

                                         

 

DETAILS BANGLADESH

Chemotherapy in Chittagong, Bangladesh: In 2017 we started a cooperation with Chittagong Hospital in Bangladesh in order to increase survival rate and especially to support chemotherapy for children with extra ocular disease. Dr. Soma Rani Roy is an ICO fellow from Bangladesh, she completed 3 months fellowship in Retinoblastoma from 1st July to 30th September 2016 at L. V. Prasad Eye Institute, under supervision of Dr. Swathi Kaliki, director of the Operation Eyesight Universal Institute for Eye Cancer in Hyderabad, India. She has returned to Bangladesh to treat RB children with the knowledge she has gained through her KAKS fellowship.

DETAILS NEPAL

Kathmandu, Nepal: Our first fellow is applying the expertise for her fellowship in the newly founded Tilganga KAKS National Retinoblastoma Centre which providing diagnosis and treatment, inter alia with a diode laser treatment device provided by KAKS.

Currently we are developing a broad early detection and treatment programm that will help avoid death and blindness and also benefit children with other eye diseases.
